There are many cruise lines in which one could choose from to go on a Caribbean cruise. In 1968 three Norwegian shipping companies came together to form a cruise line which they called the Royal Caribbean. By 1970 the Song of Norway was the first ship ready for service. They had three very large cruise ships by 1972 and so began offering seven day and fourteen day cruises.

The Royal Caribbean company was growing so fast that on one of their ships, the Sun Viking, they added an 85 foot section in the middle increasing the passenger capacity from seven hundred to one thousand.
