Sharm, or more formally, Sharm el Sheikh, is one of the hottest travel destinations in the Arab world, and for good reason. It’s quickly being recognized as one of the finest diving destinations in the world, and the variety of activities available to the visitor is mind boggling.

Forty years ago, Sharm Egypt wasn’t much more than a tiny fishing village. But during Israel’s occupation, Sharm began to transform into a travel destination as the area was developed. It now contains many of the amenities that you would expect in a travel destination, except that it has also been able to maintain its historic roots.

Sharm and nearby Hurghada are located on the Red Sea coast, and just offshore there is a wide variety of aquatic life and beautiful coral, including dolphins and sharks, if that interests you! Sharm caters to scuba divers of all levels, so even if you’re new to the activity, you’ll find a reputable dive operator who will take you out.

If scuba diving is not for you, there are plenty of other beach activities that you can take part in. Sharm and Hurghada beaches have beautiful white sand and the water is crystal clear. Bad pictures are almost impossible to take here!

Most of the hotels in Sharm, are located in the Na’ama Bay neighborhood, a long sandy bay with a beautiful, palm-fringed boulevard. Other popular neighborhoods include Sharm El Maya, which is near the older Sharm el Sheikh development, and Ras Um Sid.

Egypt entertains more than five million visitors per year, and in recent years, over one fourth of them have visited Sharm. The locals are very accommodating and friendly with travelers, but there are still some taboo customs that you should be aware of if you’re planning a visit. To get the most out of your vacation, look into Egypt packages, which will help you plan your travel.

For the most part, most of Egypt is generally safe. There is very little violent crime, with the most common infraction being petty pick pocketing, but security is stationed in most public areas to protect the travelers’ interests.

Sharm is a beautiful city in an amazingly historical city. If you plan a trip to Sharm, whether on its on or as part of one of the available Egypt packages, you will not be disappointed, and you will be left with some fantastic memories (and hopefully photographs) that will last a lifetime.

The Month of Ramadhan in Medan

There are several things that travelers need to be aware during the fasting month when traveling to Muslim countries including Medan Indonesia.

Ramadan, the fasting month, is an event of great importance to the Indonesian and the worlds Muslim community. Being one of the five pillars of Islam, observance of the fasting month is the priority in the devout Muslims life during this month. Fasting involves a change in the daily routine of the Muslim faithful and represents an expression of their deep belief to God.

Many Indonesians look forward to Rahmadhan as an opportunity to test and develop their inner, spiritual selves. The fasting regime is rigorous. No eating, drinking or smoking is allowed after the first prayer in the morning until the opening of the fast in the evening.

Prayer times change based on sunset and sunrise, so the exact timing is different every day. The morning prayer usually starts around 4.30 AM. Before this time, a Muslim family must wake up and consume the last food or drink that they will have for the next fourteen hours.

The opening of the fast, or Buka Puasa, occurs around 6.00 PM in the evening. At this time, all fasting Muslims will break the fast by drinking, eating and attending prayers. Expect restaurants to be full especially those that are serving Indonesian food as many families may not cook for this breaking fast period.

During this time, you may noticed that some restaurants may be closed or are opening discretely with curtains covering up windows of restaurants during the fasting time. This is a sign of respect for those who are fasting.

You can see an example of a picture taken at www.MedanKu.com where restaurants have prepared curtains to cover up the windows including fast food chains for Rahmadhan.

Other ways visitors should be aware a sign of respect are

* Be discreet when eating. Do not to eat or drink in public places except for food outlets.
* Be observant and dont offer food or drink during the fasting hours to those who are fasting.
* Be respectful and do not showcase your own food or drinks in public places.
* Be empathetic and tolerant as you may find energy levels of those who are fasting to be lower which may affect service levels and lower performance.

Medan may not be known by many international travelers. It is the third largest city in Indonesia and is famous for having the largest crater volcanic lake in the world known as Danau Toba

For more information about Medan North Sumatra please visit www.MedanKu.com - The Pride of Medan Indonesia - Travel & Living website for travelers.

air trip

In current years, as well as current months, air trips rules have changed. If you’re planning on flying, you’ll find that most of these changes have occurred right at airports, namely airport security checkpoints. If you’re about to head off to catch a flight, whether you leave tomorrow or in two weeks, it is advised that you famialrize yourself with these new air travel rules, namely the ones that are enforced at airport security checkpoints.

When it comes to airport security checkpoints, there are lots of passengers who only think of one checkpoint, but the reality is that there are actually three. When registering for seating on the plane will be your first checkpoint. This is the time when you’ll be presented with your boarding passes and when you must hand over the luggage that you would like checked. In addition to handing over your plane tickets or requesting your boarding passes, you’ll need to show the proper forms of identification. These items most commonly include a drivers license or a government issued identification card.

Once you’ve received all of your boarding passes, for all of your flights, you will need to hand over your luggage that you will be leaving below in the plane. These bags are commonly referred to as checked baggage or checked luggage. As with your carryon luggage, your checked baggage will need to be checked for prohibited items. In the past, only a small number of bags were hand checked, but now nearly all are. Many of these checks are quick look-overs, but you may be subject to a random, extensive search. The searches includes looking at all the baggage compartments.

When you have been cleared to the next stage, you will need to go through the main airport security checkpoints. This point is where you’ll be required to have your carryon luggage scanned by an x-ray machine. You’ll also need to walk through a metal detector. In the past, only random travelers were asked to remove their shoes for checking. At the current time, all air travelers, with the exception of those with a disability or hindering medical condition, are required to remove their shoes. Your carry-on luggage will be x-rayed along with your shoes.

By familiarizing yourself with the items that are banned aboard an airplane, including items that are only prohibited from being stored in your carryon luggage, an unnecessary incident could be prevented. In the event that you’re found carrying a prohibited item, certain steps will be taken. Depending on the item in question, you may be required to return the item to you vehicle, discard of it, mail it to your home, or turn it over to airport security. Ensuring that you leave all prohibited items at home is the ideal way to prevent this unnecessary tie up, which may cause you to miss your flight.

Once you’ve been cleared at the main security checkpoint, you will need to go through one more security checkpoint. This is the final step before being able to board your airplane. You’ll require to present your boarding pass just after waiting in line to be attended.During this time you’ll probably need to present your ID again, but not always necessary. Most travelers are easily able to board their airplane, but you might be pulled aside in the event that you are acting suspicious or drawing unwanted attention to yourself. That is why it is ideal that you stay calm during all airport checkpoints, including the final boarding stage.

Perhaps, the best way to ensure that your next flight is as pleasant as it can be is to follow all travel requirement rules. Knowing these rules ahead of time, including the screening process, you should ensure that you are able to board your plane and make it to your intended destination without incident.

The market town of Shrewsbury is situated in the County of Shropshire in England close to the Welsh border. It still retains many of the timber framed black and white buildings that were built during the medieval period and which sit along the sides of its narrow steep streets and alleyways.

Not counting the castle and abbey, Shrewsbury has more than 600 listed buildings within the town. Charles Darwin was born and educated in the town. As you wander around the town you will see reminders of how closely associated Charles Darwin is to this beautiful market town.

If you want to explore Shrewsbury it is worth taking a walk along the banks of the River Severn which almost circles the town. Or for a lazier time, there are pleasure trips on the river. However there is plenty more for one to do and see when you stay in Shrewsbury. Here are a few attractions in and around Shrewsbury that you can look at.

1. Acton Burnell Castle Here you will find the remains of a thirteenth Century fortified manor house that was built by Robert Burnell. Burnell was Chancellor of England and a close friend of King Edward the First. In fact the king was a regular visitor to the house and it is said that in 1263 he convened here one of the first English parliaments.

2. Attingham Park This park was designed by Humphrey Repton in 1797 and it surrounds the manor house here that was designed by George Stuart in 1785. It was the home of the first Lord Berwick. The house is furnished with furniture and silver from the Regency period. As for the park wander around the grounds and enjoy some peace and tranquility.

3. Abbey Church This is all that now remains of the Benedictine Monastery founded in 1083 by Roger de Montgomery. Made from red sandstone this church is dedicated to the saints Peter and Paul. When you approach the church you will see the Gothic design west tower which also has a statue of King Edward the Third. Plus there is the wonderful west window to be admired which has an embellished coat of arms on it dated back to the reign of Richard the Second. Some of the tombs in the church date back to the 1300’s.

When you next stay in Shrewsbury, choose your hotel in Shrewsbury here.

Looking to go on a vacation, but can not find an affordable one? Well, there is some good news: you may not have found that affordable vacation but it is most definitely out there. In fact, if you center your thrift minded search on last minute travel bargains you will end up finding that affordable vacation sooner that you thought.

The Various Venues

There are a number of ways in which a person can save money on a vacation and most understand this in terms of generalities. That is to say, people do realize that there are a number of traditional venues available for people looking for discounts such as travel agents, newspaper classifieds, the popular online classified travel ads, etc. Now, all these venues are legitimate and they all offer excellent deals.

The honesty and legitimacy of these venues is not in question. The problem is not so much with what they offer as much as the fact that these venues are only a small subset of travel discounts available. In today’s expansive world of the internet there are a number of lesser known deals that are available for travelers who need to save money. One of these deal making services is those services that provide last minute travel bargains.

The Logic Explained

Consider the following example: a cruise ship can accommodate 450 cabins. The ship sales for will sail on its destination in three days but it has only sold 447 cabins. Now, it will sail whether or not it sells those remaining three cabins so it has nothing to lose by offering last minute travel bargains where the cost of those remaining cabins is slashed by a significant percentage. After all, 50% of full price is more than 100% of zero! This is the logic that motivates last minute travel bargains and it is a wise logic that helps both the provider as well as the consumer.

Online Resources

Thankfully, there are a number of online resources available that collect the various last minute travel bargains that are available to the public and then offer then as a minor, reasonable mark up. This small increase in cost is acceptable because without the help of these companies providing a collective source for these last minute travel bargains people would not be able to take advantage of them. Certainly, these are not the types of bargains any serious traveler would want to miss!

Chichester is a cathedral city in West Sussex and there has been a settlement here since Roman times. However it was not until Anglo Saxon times that it grew in importance. When you come to visit Chichester there are plenty of things for you to do and see and below we look at just a few of these attractions.

Chichester cathedral is on almost every visitors list of things to see. It dates back to 1088, just after the Domesday Book was compiled and work continued on it for many centuries after that. In fact it is thought that work on the Cathedral was carried right on through to the fifteenth Century and because of this it has both Romanesque and Gothic styling. The Belfry you see today was built in 1866 to replace the one that collapsed in 1861 and which was built in the early fifteenth Century.

Another place of interest to visit is Fishbourne Roman Palace where you can learn more about life in this part of England during the time when Roman’s occupied the area. The foundations that you see were excavated between 1960 and 1968 and were actually owned by a Celtic tribal chief (Cogidubnus) who was an ally of the Romans. The palace features numerous Roman pavements, showing off the various different mosaic techniques used by the Roman craftsmen.

For the boys then a visit to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum is a must. Here they will be able to learn more about the history of military aviation cover a period of 70 years. There are special exhibits at the museum that are dedicated to the Royal Air Force and how they waged war with the Germans over Southern England during the World War II. The museum has a replica Spitfire and a Hurricane and Swift Jet as well as a Hunter and a Meteor.

Then a short drive from Chichester is Goodwood House which is home to the Dukes of Richmond for more than 300 years. Although the house is only open for the public 60 days a year when it is one has the chance to explore the Regency State Apartments where there are some wonderful treasures to be enjoyed. Along with paintings by George Stubbs and Canaletto there are some fine French Tapestries, furniture and porcelain to be viewed as well.

If you would like to discover what life has been like for people living in this part of England during the last five hundred years or so then a visit to Weald and Downland Open Air Museum should be considered. The museum is located in fifty acres of the South Downs and it has more than 45 historic farms, homes and workplaces for you and your family to explore. All of which were rescued and then restored to their original form. For the children they could spend time learning what is was like to go to school during Victorian times and may be they won’t complain about school now. Otherwise why not take a walk through the woods or visit the farm where you can see Shire horses and cattle at work. Then after all that excitement have a picnic by the lake.

When you next stay in Chichester, make sure to book your Chichester hotel here.

In many cases, planning ahead can be a money-saving exercise, especially when traveling by air. While there are arguments for and against planning travel ahead of time, there will be times that last minute travel is a necessity. For some, this can mean a higher airline fare than they might typically pay, while for others it could translate into exceptional savings, depending on when the travel is needed and how flexible travel times can be.

For those stuck on a particular airline with an unrelenting schedule for travel, there is a good chance that higher prices will accompany the demands. The airline industry, like many others, sells their product priced on supply and demand. With fewer seats and more people wanting the fly, the more they can charge for a seat. When looking for last minute travel opportunities, being able to adjust the days, or at least the hours that are available for flights, may save some significant money.

Even when travel becomes necessary at the last minute, there is no reason to pay top dollar for the trip, when a few minutes spent online researching opportunities may enable last minute travel to be found. It is almost guaranteed that calling one airline to book a flight at the last minute the price will be higher than others that are available.

Choice Of Destination May Affect Price

Many airports charge a premium for the airlines to use their facility and landing fess can vary from one airport to another by as much as several hundred dollars. Even with last minute travel it is possible to find a lesser-used airport that can land you close to your destination for considerably less money. Investigate all the possibilities before finalizing reservations for last minute travel.

There may be times when scheduling last minute travel that your departure and arrival times are dictated by the reason for the trip. In many of these cases the airlines may have the passenger at their mercy when it comes to pricing for the flight. However, if travel times can be flexible, there is a good chance that better pricing can be found on lesser-traveled flights. The planes might take off and land in the middle of the night, but it could also offer significant savings.

Arriving at the destination a few hours early may save a couple of hundred dollars and with the increase in flight delays, especially at busy airports during busy times of the day, scheduling last minute travel to arrive early may actually help arrival on time.

There are plenty of things for you to see and do when you visit the university city of Oxford. The river Thames and the river Cherwell run through the city and meet just south of its centre. If you have the time during your visit, you can enjoy a pleasant stroll along the banks of either of these.

There are lots of other things to do and see when you visit Oxford and here we will look at just a few of them.

1. The Ashmolean Museum is one of the greatest in the world and also claims to be Britain’s first official museum. When this museum was founded, the term museum had not been coined and its creator based it on a collection of natural history specimens brought together by John Tradescant and his son. The collection was later given to Elias Ashmole. He then had a special building erected in which the collection could be housed and it first opened its doors to the public in May 1683. But what made this museum so special was when the Alfred Jewel was added to the collection in 1718.

As the size of the collection grew, the original building became too small and a new museum building was erected and opened in 1894. Then by the end of 1908 the collection of items collected and displayed in the Ashmolean were merged with an art gallery and that is what you will see today.

2. Oxford Botanic Gardens were originally Physic Gardens that were founded by Henry Danvers in 1621 so that he as the Earl of Danby could study more closely medicinal plants. The garden cost 5,000 to create (a large sum at this time) and was built on the site of a form medieval Jewish cemetery. The plant ragwort was propagated here from seeds that came from Mount Etna. This is now the oldest surviving botanic gardens to be found in England and along with the herb and medicinal plants one can view tropical lilies, palms and other arid zone plants in the glasshouses. There is also a wonderful rock garden and bog garden for you to enjoy when you visit this beautiful attraction.

3. The University Church of St Mary the Virgin is situated on Oxford’s High Street and is a very important building in the history of Oxford University. The first library for the university was established here as early as the 12th Century.

But what makes this so important is that this is where the trial took place of the Bishops Latimer and Ridley along with Archbishop Cranmer for heresy in 1555. They soon became known as the “Oxford Martyrs”. The building occupies one side of Radcliffe Square and it faces the Radcliffe Camera. You are bound to notice the buildings spire, parts of which date back to when it was originally constructed in the 13th Century. The more energetic can climb the towers 127 steps and be rewarded with spectacular views of the city.

When you next stay in Oxford, choose your Oxford hotel from this list.

Bridlington as well as being a seaside resort is also a small seaport located on England’s North Sea coast. It is situated just south of the promontory known as Flamborough Head and provides you with easy access to the towns of Hull and Scarborough.

Bridlington has much to offer, even if you don’t venture out to towns like Hull and Scarborough. Here are just a few of the attractions you may consider visiting when you next stay in Bridlington.

1. Sewerby Hall and Gardens are on the cliff tops above Bridlington and they form the gateway to the Flamborough heritage coast. When you arrive you are greeted with views from the house and garden over Bridlington’s north bay. Although it was built in the early 1700’s, the hall was only opened to the public in 1936 when Bridlington Council purchased it. The hall itself houses an exhibition of souvenirs and mementoes relating to the world famous aviator Amy Johnson who came from Bridlington.

Also for the children there is the zoo that they can enjoy which houses many different types of domestic and wild mammals. Together with a large number of reptiles and birds. Many children when visiting it enjoy spending time with the Cameroon Sheep, Llamas, Monkeys, Parakeets and Humboldt Penguins.

2. Bridlington Leisure World is another, more modern, place you can visit. It is a great place to spend the day when the weather isn’t as nice as it could be as it has three swimming pools for you to use. It also features a wave pool and water slides. On Friday evenings they have an inflatable assault course.

However, if you are on your own with your partner then you could try out the centre’s state of the art gymnasium. The gym has the latest in exercise equipment and excellent views of Bridlington Bay. The gym’s fully trained staff are there to look after you.

3. The Bridlington Yorkshire Belle is a cruise service which offers trips past the local cliffs and along the coast around Flamborough Head and to Bempton’s Bird Sanctuary. The latest Yorkshire Belle was built in 1947 because the original one was destroyed during World War Two. The cruise takes around one hour.

4. John Bull Rock Factory and Candy Kingdom is a place for adults and children alike. They have been producing traditional kinds of confectionary, biscuits and chocolate for over three generations. But of course what they are really renowned for producing is the sticks of rock. The factory and kingdom is located a short distance from Bridlington in Carnaby. They offer a factory tour and you also have the chance to make your own lollipops and rock.

Make sure that you have an enjoyable visit Bridlington and book your hotel in Bridlington here.
