JUNEAU -- A lawyer for the state said letters should begin going out this week to the more than 77,000 current and former public employees whose personal information was lost by an accounting firm.
Student pleads not guilty to raping campus roommate -
JUNEAU -- A 21-year-old University of Alaska Southeast student accused of raping his female roommate at their coed campus apartment last month pleaded not guilty Tuesday to five counts of sexual assault. The 21-year-old man from Arizona, Dominic Merrill, was indicted Friday and is held in the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on $25,000 bail.
Federal officials to explore VA problems in Alaska hearings -
Two field hearings in Alaska next week are planned to air issues facing the state's veterans, including those exposed in a recent audit that found serious problems at the Anchorage office of the Veterans Affairs Department, according to U.S. Sen. Mark Begich.
Anchorage to get regional climate science center -
WASHINGTON -- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirmed Thursday that Anchorage will be home to one of its six regional climate science centers.
